If you choose to have the audio player and episode details displayed on your episode pages, you will see something that looks a bit like this:

By adding a couple of quick snippets to the functions.php file of your theme (or child theme) you can hide the actual audio player or make any changes you like to the episode details that are displayed beneath it by default.

This snippet will hide the audio player from your podcast episodes, but will not affect the episode details at all:

If you would like to keep the audio player where it is, but customise its appearance (without using any code) then you will find the Media Player Style Kit particularly useful. It is a stand alone plugin that is can be used with or without Seriously Simple Podcasting, but it allows you to have full control over the colours of your site’s media player.

You can use this snippet to remove the ‘Download file’ link:

To remove any of the other items you simply need to replace the link text with any of the following: new_window, duration, size or date_recorded.

You can also add items to the episode details. This snippet, for example, will add the episode’s series to the details:

You can add as many items as you like using this method with the following HTML tags being allowed in the text that you display: strong, b, em, i and a. Any other HTML tags used will be automatically stripped out.
