Why does my podcast cover image not display properly in the player?

For your podcast cover image to be valid on iTunes, it must be exactly Square and between 1400 x 1400 and 3000 x 3000 pixels. This means that when you upload your image you must make sure to select a size option that at least has those dimensions. The image will display smaller on the plugin’s settings screen once you have uploaded, but as long as your uploaded image is the correct dimensions then it will work.

Similarly, the image to the left of the player has a few checks it performs. It checks for images in size/dimensions that conform to Apple Podcasts standards (square and between 1400x1400 and 3000x3000px) in this order:

– Is there an Episode featured image?
– Is the episode a part of a Series Feed, and does that Series have a feed image?
– Is the Default Feed image compatible?

If none of these are present (and the right size/shape) then the placeholder grey image will show meaning if you have a square, 1400x1400px featured image it will show in the player, if not it falls back to the Series image if it is the right size/shape, if not it falls back to the default feed image, and if that’s not the right size/shape it falls back to the placeholder.
