What is Castos Commerce?
Castos Commerce allows you to monetize your podcast by accepting one-time or recurring donations from your dedicated podcast supporters. In the future, Castos Commerce will be expanded to include a "Fixed Price" model where your supporters can pay a one-time fee to unlock your podcast content as well as a "Subscription" model where your supporters will be charged on a recurring basis to gain access to your content.
Do I need to use Stripe?
Yes, in order to use Castos Commerce, you'll be required to have a Stripe account set up and properly configured.
Does Castos take a fee from the donation?
No, Castos does not take a fee from the donation. The only fees associated with donations are those collected from Stripe.
Can I send customizable receipts?
Yes, you can manage your brand identity on Stripe by visiting your Stripe Account's Settings -> Branding section.
Can I customize the donation prices?
Yes, you can configure up to 3 pricing tiers for both one-time and recurring donations that your supporters to choose from.
Will my supporters need a Castos account to donate?
Your supporters do not need a Castos account in order to donate a one-time donation. However, in order to set up a recurring donation, a subscriber account will be created for them so that they can manage their donations via our Subscriber Dashboard.
I use Seriously Simple Podcasting with Castos as my podcast host, can I still use Castos Commerce for donations?
Yes, you can still use Castos Commerce for donations, but you will need to use your Castos-generated donation page for your listeners to donate.
Where will my supporters manage their donations?
Supporters that create a subscriber account (required for recurring donations) can manage their donations and view receipts/transaction history via our Subscriber Dashboard.
I have disabled my Castos-generated podcast website because I have my own website, or my podcast is private, will the Donation page still work?
Yes, the donation page will still be accessible even if you've disabled your Castos-generated podcast website.
Do I have to pay taxes on any income generated by Castos Commerce?
You'll need to contact a local tax professional or attorney to determine if you need to pay any taxes on income generated by Castos Commerce.
