Castos' podcast distribution assistance
When you request distribution assistance, Castos will submit your Castos podcast RSS feed to all major directories, and a few smaller directories on your behalf. Once your podcast RSS feed has been accepted for distribution, all previous and any new episodes you publish will automatically be ingested and available for your listeners.
The major directories include
- Apple Podcasts
- Spotify
- Amazon Music
- Pocket Casts
- iHeart Radio
- Pandora
The smaller directories include
- Deezer
- Radio Public
- Castbox
- Podcast Addict
- PlayerFM
- Podchaser
When your podcast is live on Apple Podcasts, directories and apps such as Goodpods, Downcast, Overcast, Listen Notes, and Podcast Index will automatically start ingesting and distributing it.
When your podcast is live on Amazon Music, it will automatically be available on Audible as well.
Keep in mind that our directory/app list is not exhaustive and your podcast is not limited to these directories. If you want your show submitted to another directory/app that is not listed, you'll simply need to copy your show's RSS feed and follow that directory/app's instructions on how to submit your show's RSS feed.
How long does distribution assistance take?
Distribution assistance typically takes about 24 hours if the request is received Monday —> Friday. Requests received during the weekend (or on a holiday) will be processed as soon as possible the following business day. This means that if you submit your request on a Monday, we'll have your podcast distributed by the end of business day (ET) on Tuesday.
I would like to control where my podcast gets distributed, can I do that?
Absolutely. You can choose "I'll Add My Own Links" which will bring you to our directory list page. When you click Settings next to each directory, we'll have instructions on how to distribute your podcast to that directory/app and also a space for you to add the show link for that directory/app. These show links are used on your Castos podcast website and the Castos Player so that your listeners can find and easily subscribe to your show using their favorite app.
I just moved my podcast to Castos, do I need to do this to have it distributed?
No. If your podcast was previously hosted elsewhere and you've just moved on over (Welcome!) to Castos, you'll only need to redirect your previous RSS feed to your new Castos RSS feed. The podcast directories that you're already on will automatically update your show's RSS information and start ingesting the latest episodes. If you're using your Castos podcast website to share your show or sharing the Castos player, we recommend adding your existing show links to each directory by clicking Settings next to each directory you're already on. If you want to distribute your podcast further, you can follow these instructions.
I would like to claim a podcast that you submitted on my behalf, can I do that?
Yes, you as the owner of the podcast can absolutely claim the podcast at a directory such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc, at a later time if you wish. You'll need to follow that specific directory's instructions for claiming a podcast (if you're unsure how to claim it, check out the directory's help center). Generally, as long as you have your email address as the owner email address or have access to change the RSS feed details (which you do if your account is active here), you should be able to claim the podcast without needing an assist from Castos. But of course, reach out to us if you need help.
Anything else?
To ensure a smooth process, please be sure to keep your RSS feed in compliance with feed requirements.
Video podcasts can only be distributed to Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, and Podcast Addict at this time. This is not a limitation of Castos Podcast hosting, but with podcast directories/apps in general. Not many directories/apps support video podcasts at this time.
Spotify supports video, but only from Spotify for Podcasters, and video episodes are limited to the Spotify platform. Other directories will be served an audio-only version of the episode.
